A supermarket full of neighbourhood ideas

The bus evokes the familiar image of a moving supermarket, but the content is surprisingly different. In the shelves are dummy products like a pack to help your neighborhood. They refer to small ways in which neighborhood residents can mean something to each other.

The other activations also invite to participate. Visitors will find tips behind side flaps, can indicate on tickets what they would like to do together in their neighborhood and discover ideas on the action board. With ping-pong balls they show how much time they have available to help a neighbor. Thus the NeighborhoodSuper makes neighborhood contact concrete and the bus starts calls. How cool!

An old bus, completely refreshed

For the new position the bus received a thorough refurbishing. We stripped the interior, removed the old floor and parts, sanded the walls and prepared them for a new finish. We sanded the outside and ground again. Instead of completely wiping the bus, we chose painting by our own painters.

Joni and Onno worked on the production for about three full weeks. While the bus was being refurbished outside, we made the custom activations in our workshop.

Creative and practical co-thinking

The bus should not only stand out, but also be safe and pleasant to use. That's why we thought along about the entry and the stairs. This question brought practical questions: where do you leave the steps if they are not used, and then block the passage? We were looking for workable solutions to the challenges we encountered.

We also advised in the finishing. We discussed how everything remains neat and beautiful and also remains during intensive use. We always looked for a balance between the customer's wishes and what works well in practice.

Behind the scenes!

During this project we kept track of all the updates and behind the scenes images. That's how the whole process comes in nicely. Curious how we brought the bus to life inside and out? On our socials you will find the making-or video of this project.

Project manager Stef speaking

"This was a great project for me to work on. It started with an old SRV bus and a nice mission: to connect neighborhood residents. Together we looked to make that idea visible and palpable on the bus. The activations, like the dummy products in the shelves and the ping-pong balls, make the story concrete and invite people to participate.

There was a lot going on in this project. From designing the concept and activations to thinking along about entry and finishing. We always looked for solutions that fit the idea and worked well in practice. It's nice that the bus now runs through the country and brings people together in different places. On to the next project!"
