Boozed exists for 30 years... and some furniture is just as old! But our rental range is also constantly being renewed. In addition to repairing existing furniture, we are working on smart optimizations, sustainable upgrades and the development of completely new product lines.
These innovations are the result of a close collaboration between Design, Work Preparation and the Workshop. Reason enough to put these teams in the sun! We spoke to a number of colleagues about recent innovation projects. In this article we show how they build smart, circular solutions together and share their latest creations.
From idea to implementation: That's how we work at Boozed
A brief explanation of our method: below we explain three teams that together play an important role in our innovation process. Everyone thinks along, dares to renew and works towards one goal: smart and sustainable solutions that make the difference.
1. Design
Projects start with design, where the first ideas emerge. Here strong designs are developed and concepts that stimulate the senses.

2. Work preparation
Next, work preparation comes into action. This team translates the designs into practice: from technical drawings to material planning: Every detail is checked

3. Workshop
In the workshop everything comes to life: We build, repair and improve here. We keep our rental collection fresh, give classics an upgrade and realize customization that surprises.
So three different teams, each with their own specialty. In practice, however, projects are rarely linear with defined tasks. Co-creation brings us to the best results. With different consultation moments, creating an experience is usually a repetitive process. A customized bar is not 1-2-3 ready, but often in 1-2-1-3-2-3-2-1-3!
Innovation projects over the past six months
Project 1: Shape Food Stations
A good example of the collaboration are the new Shape Food Stations. Designed as an extension to the existing Shape furniture line, with a serene Japandi style and a smart build-up.
The design is multifunctional: can be used in different lengths, stackable, expandable with a canopy and even used as a gate. There is plenty of space for surfing, which can be fully integrated in style.
Work preparation provided the technical translation: finger load wood (shape-faster and more durable), externally cut to size for efficiency. So we could build with a kind of smart kit.
In the workshop prototypes were tested and perfected. Without screws or glue, but with smart clicking systems that ensure fast up and down and minimal use damage. Burning elements? You're gonna slide it right in.

Project 2: Cape Town and Copenhagen bar upgrade
Cape Town and Copenhagen bars are among our oldest and most versatile items in the range. They are still popular thanks to their modular structure, different length options and interchangeable front panels with various theme dynamometers. But how do we ensure that these classics stay well maintained and are optimized at the same time? See our approach below.

Renewing the bar system
Each bar consists of columns, a bartop and a front panel. Currently, parts are screwed directly into the wood, resulting in a . This requires regular replacement of the wood.
To prevent this, we develop a sliding system with bolts and metal hooks. Technical designer Allard has now made and tested several prototypes, together with Victor in the workshop. 3D components have been printed and calculations carried out to refine the design. In total, about 400 custom-made bolts are needed to roll the new system wide.
Once everything is ready, we can apply it gradually to all bars in the range. The result? Less repairs and a faster, simpler winding-up and dismantling. With the new system one colleague can build the bar completely independently!

Project 3: Upgrade Trash
Once we built a large batch of trash cans. They have gone along for a long time, but now they need an update! And fair is fair: We built those trash cans a little too fast back then, so we didn't think about everything.
Courteney is working on a new design that pertains to ease of use and flexibility. The new containers must be easy to move, even over grass or uneven terrain and handy in transport.
The surf is also upgraded: easier to fix and quick to change without hassle. The containers are still in development, but the first sketches and test versions can already be admired in the workshop.

Project 4: Transport boxes
Our transport boxes are indispensable: They protect materials, ensure safe transportation and extend the life of our range. Each box is custom made, tailored to the contents and the wagons in which they are transported. We are always looking for improvements: less wood, less weight, more protection.
As B Corp Whenever possible, we always choose recycled materials. That's why we reused wood from a big summer party for the last transport boxes! Also carpet residues get a second life as a soft lining. We combine sustainability with craftsmanship and take care not only of our stuff, but also of the planet.
Team leaders speaking
We asked the team leaders of the workshop, work preparation and design how they experienced the collaboration within Boozed.
Victor (workshop) says:
We all work towards one goal: Something that impresses people and really hits them. Whether it is about building constructions or developing new ideas, everyone contributes to this. We share the focus on reuse and efficiency. So we ensure that every idea is not only creative, but also technically feasible and future-proof
Leo (Technical Design) and Daisy (Design) complement:
Boozed has grown considerably in the number of employees in 30 years. We are now with almost 50 permanent colleagues, next to the large freelance team. This growth brings room for renewal and deepening. Where everyone used to do a little bit of everything, there is now room for specialization. Colleagues will have the opportunity to do what they are good at and to strengthen each other in it. That we now have the space to develop and to do so together, we are really proud of that!
