Last month, IBTM World in Barcelona launched the Sustainability ladder Business Events (DLZE). A broad sector initiative that provides a clear and ambitious framework for structural sustainability of business events. Boozed has watched and written along with parts of this model, which perfectly fits our B Corp vision and the way we make our events ever more sustainable.
What's the DLZE?
The Sustainability ladder Business Events (DLZE) is a practical growth model that helps organisations to organise business events more sustainably step by step. The ladder consists of five steps, from legal basic requirements to fully climate-neutral, circular and inclusive events.
The model deals with thirteen themes such as energy, transport, materials, diversity and reporting, and indicates which concrete steps you can take, which data to collect and how to improve your impact.
In short: The DLZE offers one clear standard for the entire event industry, allowing agencies, suppliers, locations and clients to work together on more sustainable business events.

An instrument that pertains to the mission of Boozed
Within Boozed we strive for maximum circularity: in our choices for materials, in the design of stands, in our supplier selection and in our own circular climate plan that is currently under development. The DLZE matches that course. The model helps us to check our annual goals against the steps of the ladder and indicates direction where we want to grow as an organisation.
The ladder offers a shared framework for the entire industry. That is exactly what is needed to bring together fragmented sustainability criteria into a single common system that everyone can work with.

Cooperation to help the sector
The DLZE was developed by Green Events in collaboration with IDEA and The Groundbreakers, made possible by BEFuture. In addition, many agencies, locations and suppliers contributed to the content.
Partners who have thought and co-built:
LUSTR, S. V. P. Atmosphere Management, Pino, Rabobank, Hutten Food & Design, Lars Sorensen, Obsession Events Bureau, Niquell, Inspyrium, ATPI Events and The Food Line-up.

Use the ladder to make your events more sustainable!
The DLZE is available free of charge and offers structure and brightness. It helps...
- offices to set targets;
- clients to ask better questions;
- suppliers to produce more transparent and sustainable products.
At Boozed we now use the ladder as a touchstone in our internal climate goals, our circular design guidelines and our production processes. We encourage everyone in the event industry to get on with it.
Questions?
Questions about using the ladder or how to integrate it into projects? IDEA and Green Events are happy to help. Of course, organisations can also contact us. At Boozed, Elise is the contact point for everything about sustainability and circularity. You can reach her via elise@boozed.nl.
