30 years Boozed: inside the walls, outside the comfort zone
With 70 colleagues we travelled to Tossa de Mar at the end of September to celebrate 30 years of Boozed. Designers, account managers, co-workers from the field, operation and warehouse, event builders and zzp The whole Boozed team was there. Kim took us to a place where she's been coming for years and it's special to her.
It was a weekend full of fun: We went into the pool, ate a lot of tapas, got out of our comfort zone in a kayak and sang enthusiastically with the karaoke. But Tossa was also our playing field to watch Boozed together. The town is walled and our program brought us both inside and outside those walls. The blue wire from the weekend? Watching Boozed from the inside out, stepping outside the beaten paths and looking forward together.
Friday: Within the walls
After departure from Boozed and the flight from Rotterdam Airport we arrived in Tossa de Mar. Put the stuff down first and take a refreshing dip in the pool. Then we kicked off the weekend in a tapas bar, with a drink and a table full of Spanish snacks.
Then we went in mixed teams for a city game through Tossa. The questions were not only about the town, but also about Boozed. What's going well? What can we improve? Where do we want to grow — And what do we need for that?
So the first day was marked by inside the walls: Watching together how things are going at Boozed. While the city led us from demand to demand, colleagues from different teams shared their experiences, ideas and insights. That resulted in nice conversations and new inspiration for the future.
Angry outside the walls: into the mountains and into the water.
There was plenty of action on Saturday. We split up into two groups and moved into the Tossa area. Part of the team went into the mountains for a hike. Along the way we made a stop to taste fresh honey and catch a breath. At the end a beautiful beach waited: time for a refreshing dip and lunch with the whole team. And yes, of course that was tapas again.
Beach games followed, including a fanatical game of rope pulling. We also went on the water with kayaks. We paddled along the rocky coast and through caves, over clear blue water. Sometimes driving was a challenge. Or kayaks? Sure. Was that an accident? Well... At least there was a lot of laughing.
Outside the city walls we also stepped outside our familiar surroundings. Try new things, help each other and discover what happens when you do it just a little bit differently: Exactly what this day was all about.
Tossa after sunset
In the evening we arrived at a local taberna for tapas and jugs sangria. Then the hips went loose during a flamenco workshop. And then? Cocktails, karaoke and very enthusiastic, sometimes a bit false, sing along. Our favorite song? Something about a flamingo.
But above all, it was an evening of cosiness, good conversations and fun. We met again in a different way, between the dance steps and karaoke microphone.
Sunday: Recharge
After all the adventures we took it easy on Sunday. A little shopping, relaxing on the beach or by the pool and eating tapas together. At the end of the day it was time to say goodbye to Tossa and travel back to the Netherlands.
Continue together
In Tossa we celebrated 30 years of Boozed, but we also looked ahead. Because we made teams with colleagues from different departments, we heard new perspectives and discussed improvement points and ideas. We wrote it down to take it back to Boozed.
We came home with nice memories, new conversations and fresh energy to build together. Within the walls, outside the comfort zone and forward with each other.
